Grandma’s Sonnet

You are determined in every weather

When there’s sleepy sun you sit with lazy rays

The dog rolling in joy, so whatever

Our mood, you lighten the shade of our days.

You are the reason for my brother’s first

School jumper. Knitted with needles and red.

Listen to me without hearing the worst

Nothing but the right things choose to be said.

You were the one who taught me how to try

Wobbly bike rides with you around our yard

In your car, there’s endless mints and books by

Enid Blyton for drives in evening dark.

This is for each moment with you because

Love poems aren’t easy, but this one was.
