Who am I ?

My name is Matilda Houston-Brown and I was chosen as the 2015/6 Young Poet Laureate for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire

I was very pleased to take part on the TEDx Stoke event, held at the Stoke Sixth Form college on Saturday 3rd December 2016.  My TEDx Stoke talk can be found here. Thanks to Dave Murray and the whole TEDx Stoke team for their kind support and trust in me.

I was fortunate enough to be the third Young Poet Laureate for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, and at the age of 14 (at the time) have been the youngest so far.

I was asked to write, read and compere the wonderful Young Teen Fiction awards which is excellently run by the Staffordshire Library service.

Along the way I was also fortunate to win The Sentinel Too Write short story competition

I was very pleased to be asked to read at the Stoke Literary Festival – Hot Air 2016

It was a lovely surprise to be commended in the Agincourt 600 poetry competition
